Ashmole Bat (9.5" x 7.5")
This fabulous, flappy little creature was inspired by an illustration found in the pages of the Ashmole Bestiary, a wondrous encyclopaedia of animals, real and imaginary, created in the early years of the 13th century. The original manuscript is currently in the care of the Bodleian Library, who have done a wonderful job of placing high resolution images of the pages online for open access.
My little tribute painting was created using watercolour, ink and casein, embellished with 23.75 carat gold. The painting is varnished and mounted to a wooden panel and offered reasy to hand in a beautiful (9½ x 7½”) wooden frame.
The listed price includes free UK shipping. I am happy to ship worldwide. (If you live outside the UK, please contact me to discuss the postage options for your country.)
