This beautiful bear is inspired by an illustration in the Aberdeen Bestiary (c1200). There are so many sad images of bears in medieval art, often tied to a post and being made to dance. So it was a genuine pleasure to find one that is just mooching about, being a bear.
My version has been recreated, with embellishments, using watercolour, casein and 23.75 carat gold. The painting is framed and ready to hang in a beautiful 24cm x 19cm (9½ x 7½”) wooden frame.
