This is one of a series of miniature paintings inspired by the strange little creatures that inhabit the margins of illuminated manuscripts, in this case the Pabenham-Clifford Hours, an English prayer book created c1315-1320. The original manuscript is currently in the care of the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, who have kindly digitised a range of book pages and made these available as high resolution images.
My little tribute has been created, with liberties and embellishments, using watercolour, ink and casein, embellished with 23.75 carat gold. The painting is varnished and mounted to a wooden panel and offered ready to hang in a beautiful 7½” square wooden frame.
The listed price includes free UK shipping. I am very happy to ship worldwide upon request. (If you live outside the UK, please contact me to discuss the postage options for your country.)
